Changes to High Visibility Standards

The Australian standard for High Visibility has been updated and is now referred to as AS/NZS 4602.1:2011, it has replaced AS/NZS 4602:1999 which is no longer active.

All Stubbies Workwear listed on this website meets the new AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 standard.

40 Years of Stubbies

1972

The Stubbies brand was established in 1972 by clothing manufacturer Edward Fletcher and Co.

1976

Stubbies were first exported to the USA in 1976.

1977

Stubbies were first exported to New Zealand in 1977, followed by further exports to Japan and Europe.

1978

In 1978 Edward Fletcher and Co changed its name to Stubbies Clothing Co to mark the success of its Stubbies range of garments.

1999

In 1999 Stubbies Clothing Co was bought out by US-based Sara Lee Corporation and moved its operations offshore.

2001

In 2001 Stubbies joined Pacific Brands with the acquisition of Sara Lee Apparel Australasia, bringing the company back to Australia.

Today

Today Stubbies is still recognised as an iconic Australian brand that provides affordable clothing.
